Ángela Aguilar is opening up about her relationship in a new song. The Mexican-American singer released the music video for “El Equivocado” last night (May 1), which features private footage with her husband, Christian Nodal.

Since confirming her relationship with Nodal last June, Aguilar knows it’s been a hot topic among the Latine community. They went public with their romance a few weeks after Nodal and his ex-partner Cazzu announced their split. Aguilar did a few interviews about her relationship with Nodal, but now she’s addressing the situation and her haters in “El Equivocado.”

“‘El Equivocado’ is a song that encompasses me in this new phase,” Aguilar wrote in an Instagram post. “Producing it was an act of love, and singing it, a way to thank not only the one who makes me feel everything, but those who have believed in me and what I create with my heart. Thank you for being there.”

“El Equivocado” is a sweeping mariachi pop song. In Spanish, Aguilar sings, “It’s okay if you believe me / If not, that’s fine too / It’s my life / To each their own because I’m not going to hide this love.” The “equivocado” she appears to be referring to is Nodal. “And so it happened, little by little / We started to fall in love / Nothing was set in stone / They tell me all kinds of things and to be careful / That I’ve fallen in love with the wrong guy.”

Aguilar stands her ground in the song’s chorus while doubling down on her love for Nodal. “The wrong one is like no other and in my heart he’s number one / As the world turns, they don’t understand our thing / No matter what they say, he’s the right one / The wrong one was perfect for me,” she sings. Aguilar also directed the music video for “El Equivocado,” which includes footage of her vacation with Nodal in Mexico.

“El Equivocado” will be included on the songstress’s upcoming album Nadie Se Va Cómo Llegó. The LP will be released on May 22.
