Feid is getting into the salsa groove with Luis Fonsi. Today (Jan. 20), the Puerto Rican pop icon released the music video for “Cambiaré” featuring Ferxxo. The unexpected collaboration comes on the heels of the ninth anniversary of Fonsi’s global smash “Despacito.”

Nine years ago, Luis Fonsi pushed Latine music to the top of the charts with “Despacito” featuring Daddy Yankee. The remix featuring Justin Bieber then made it a global phenomenon. To commemorate that landmark moment in his career, Fonsi regrouped with Andrés Torres and Mauricio Rengifo, the co-writers and producers of “Despacito,” in Los Angeles, CA. During that session, they were joined by Feid, who also co-wrote and features on Fonsi’s new single “Cambiaré.” This collaboration marks Fonsi’s first time embracing the salsa music genre.

“Writing and performing a song that’s different from what I’ve been doing over the past 27 years of my career truly excites me,” Fonsi shared in a statement. “I feel emotion, nerves, and adrenaline. I love feeling this way. It feels like starting over. Everything comes from a place of respect and of celebrating my roots, my culture, and that ‘clave’ I carry within. Without risk, there is no progress, and without courage, there is no evolution.”

On Instagram, Feid recently reminded his followers that he first experimented with salsa in 2016 with “La Respuesta” featuring Diego Gale. That was years ago, and now he’s back in the genre and sounds better than ever. On the feel-good “Cambiaré,” their voices soar as they sing about promising to change themselves in the name of love.

Fonsi filmed the “Cambiaré” music video with Feid in Puerto Rico. Over the weekend, they reunited on the island to celebrate La SanSe. Feid is also starting to tease his next project, which could be called Feid Vs. Ferxxo
