Karol G is teasing her upcoming album with a few telenovela icons. This afternoon (June 16), the Colombian superstar released a teaser for TROPICOQUETA featuring RBD star Anahí and other legendary actresses.
TROPICOQUETA will be Karol G’s fifth studio album. Earlier this month, she started teasing the LP with cover art that pays homage to iconic vedettes like Iris Chacón and Carmen Miranda. In her latest teaser, Karol G is now putting the spotlight on beloved women from classic telenovelas.
In place of the “Televisa Presenta,” the teaser for Karol G’s TROPICOQUETA album opens with “Bichota Films Presenta.” The telenovela-like video begins with her holding a picture of a young Ricky Martin to her chest. A sudden gust of wind blows, which is reminiscent of the famous effect in La Rosa de Guadalupe. Mexican star Anahí is also featured to be in love with the Puerto Rican heartthrob. In this story about “love and nostalgia,” Karol G and Anahí battle it out for his affection. Anahí’s co-star from Rebelde, Ninel Conde, also plays the role of her mother in the teaser.
Karol G’s melodramatic teaser for the upcoming album also features one of the most iconic villains in telenovela history, Gabriela Spanic. The Venezuelan model is known for previously starring in classics like 1998’s La Usurpadora and 2010’s Soy Tu Dueña. The cast of Karol G’s telenovela fantasy is rounded out by Mexican actress Azela Robinson. She has previously starred in 1996’s Cañaveral de Pasiones and 2005’s Contra Viento y Marea.

Anahí appearance in Karol G’s latest teaser is fueling internet rumors that she could feature on the TROPICOQUETA album. In 2022, Karol G brought out the RBD singer as a surprise guest during a concert in Mexico City. They performed “Sálvame” live together.
Karol G’s TROPICOQUETA LP will be released on June 20.
