Karol G is stepping into the classical music world for the first time with Andrea Bocelli. This morning (Aug. 30), the Italian icon released a new rendition of “Vivo Por Ella” featuring La Bichota.
Last month, Bocelli announced that he will release a new Duets album. The LP will celebrate the 30th anniversary of his music career. Bocelli has popularized classical and opera music in English, Italian, and Spanish. He also revealed that Karol G will feature on the song “Vivo Por Ella,” which Marta Sánchez originally sang in 1997.
“This song holds a very special place in my heart, and it’s a great honor to reimagine it with one of the most talented and exciting new artists in the world, Karol G,” Bocelli shared in a statement. “Her beautiful voice helps create a timeless celebration of love and music that will find new fans and resonate across generations.”
Karol G’s voice soars to new heights in “Vivo Por Ella” with Bocelli. She shows a softer side to her artistry as a Colombian pop star. The new rendition of the classic is a reimagination, featuring a faster tempo and veering more on the pop side than the original. In the music video, Karol G belts the song with Bocelli, who plays the piano in a suit. She dons a sparkling gown in her signature color, also present in her hair.
“This song is a huge honor for me,” Karol G added. “It’s a song I’ve always loved, and when I was invited to sing ‘Vivo Por Ella,’ it felt like coming home. It’s a song I really feel inside myself. It feels like it’s going to be a special point in my career.”
Bocelli’s Duets album will be released on Oct. 25. In addition to Karol G, other Latine talents featured on the LP include Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, and Sofia Carson. Fellow Italian singer Laura Pausini will also join Bocelli on a duet.
