A reggaeton classic is getting revived for a new generation of fans. Panamanian icons La Factoría and Eddy Lover joined forces once again for an updated version of “Perdóname” featuring Puerto Rican singer Farruko. The music video for the stellar collaboration was released today (Oct. 5).

La Factoría first broke through in 2002 with the song “Todavía,” which drew similarities to Britney Spears’ 1999 single “From the Bottom of My Broken Heart.” She followed that up in 2006 with her biggest hit, “Perdóname,” featuring Eddy Lover. Their duet went on to become a reggaeton classic. The song peaked at No. 12 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Tracks chart. Spanish pop star Rosalía later covered it live during her Motomami Tour last year.

La Factoría and Eddy Lover collaborated with WK Records to release a new version of “Perdóname.” Reggaeton collides with elements of Afrobeats and a sensual saxophone. Eddy Lover’s emotional voice still cuts through the iconic chorus. Farruko adds a spiritual touch to the track with his soulful voice. Though both men are singing about asking for forgiveness, this time, La Factoría drops empowering bars about moving on without them.

La Factoría and Eddy Lover also released a music video for the new version of “Perdóname.” Both artists look great as they reintroduce themselves in this fresh video. Farruko joins them while sitting on a motorcycle. These artists teaming up from Panama and Puerto Rico are emblematic of the part of the Caribbean where reggaeton music is rooted.

La Factoría, Eddy Lover, and Farruko will perform the new version of “Perdóname” live for the first time today at the Billboard Latin Music Awards. The ceremony will air tonight from the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, FL on Telemundo. The awards will also be streaming on Universo, Peacock, and the Telemundo App.
