The nominations for the 2023 Billboard Latin Music Awards are out. Mexican superstar Peso Pluma is the most-nominated artist of the year, followed by Bad Bunny, Grupo Frontera, Karol G, and Shakira.
Billboard will be celebrating the biggest Latine artists and songs across 48 different categories. Two new categories were introduced this year: Global 200 Latin Artist of the Year and Global 200 Latin Song of the Year. Peso Pluma is nominated in both categories.
Overall, Peso received 21 nominations. Following his breakthrough year, he is up for the top categories like Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, and Album of the Year for Génesis. His collaboration “Ella Baila Sola” with Eslabon Armado is nominated for Hot Latin Song of the Year.
Bad Bunny and his recent collaborators Grupo Frontera received 15 nominations each. The Puerto Rican superstar faces Peso Pluma and Grupo Frontera in the Artist of the Year and Global 200 Latin Artist of the Year categories. Bad Bunny and Grupo Frontera’s song “Un x100to” is up for Hot Latin Song of the Year and Streaming Song of the Year.
Karol G is the most-nominated woman for the second year in a row. She is up for 13 awards, including Artist of the Year, Tour of the Year, and Album of the Year for Mañana Será Bonito. She is followed by her “TQG” collaborator Shakira, who received 12 nominations. Their hit collaboration is nominated for five awards, including Hot Latin Song of the Year and Latin Airplay Song of the Year. Shakira’s songs “Monotonía” featuring Ozuna and “BZRP Music Sessions, Vol. 53” with Bizarrap also garnered her multiple nominations.
Other top nominees include Fuerza Regida, Rauw Alejandro, Rosalía, Feid, and Yng Lvcas. The Billboard Latin Music Awards will air live on Telemundo on Thursday, Oct. 5. The 2023 Billboard Latin Music Awards will also be streamed on Universo, Peacock, and Telemundo App.
