A Mexican drag queen is going viral thanks to her impression of Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter NFL Christmas Gameday halftime performance in Houston, TX. The fierce performance by Macarena has caught the attention of the pop queen’s mom and RuPaul’s Drag Race star Trinity K. Bonet.

Macarena is a drag queen and impersonator from Tijuana, Baja California. When she is not performing, Macarena is the host of El Podcast de Mujer and the creator of the Estrellas del Drag competition in Baja California. On Jan. 1, she posted a video of herself impersonating Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter performance to a tee on Instagram. Macarena emulated the singer’s own outfit at the performance, wearing a white vaquera ensemble and the sash reading Cowboy Carter as she rode into a club on a horse. On social media, her lip-sync performance of “16 Carriages” drew praise from Drag Race star Coco Montrese and Horacio Potasio from the second season of Drag Race México

Macarena’s Beyoncé impersonation especially went viral because many people online compared her to Trinity K. Bonet. On season six of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars in 2021, Trinity K. Bonet solidified herself as the best Beyoncé impersonator of the franchise. In the “Halftime Headliners” episode, she tore up the stage as a spitting image of Queen Bey from her performance at the Super Bowl in 2013. Trinity K. Bonet caught wind of the comparisons with Macarena and praised her performance.

“This young lady live [from] Tijuana Mexico… she brought a horse into a nightclub, had a replica jacket and costume done. did the whole live performance mimicking the choreography right behind her and had pyrotechnics to finish her show,” Trinity K. Bonet wrote on Instagram. “And what makes it all even better is that she is not a RUPAUL DRAG RACE STAR nor a pageant queen…. simply an artist, bravo to you and your creativity and thank you for giving me the hunger to want to bring a show to life again no more lazy drag from Trinity.”

Macarena’s performance also caught the attention of Beyoncé’s own mom. Tina Knowles reposted the video of Macarena’s performance to her Instagram account. With a heart emoji, Knowles wrote, “Wow !!!! They went all out !!!”
