Peso Pluma is entering his belicoquette era with Kali Uchis. Today (Jan. 17), Kali released her heavenly music video for “Igual Que Un Ángel” featuring the música mexicana star.
“Igual Que Un Ángel” is one of the songs on Kali Uchis’ latest album Orquídeas. Peso Pluma has dabbled in many genres in the last year, but this marks his first time going pop. He completely immerses himself in Kalis’ disco-infused world. Both artists sing together about how blessed baddies always come out on top when times get tough. The collaboration has become the most-streamed song from the LP and currently sits at No. 12 on Spotify’s Global 50 chart.
In his corridos tumbados hits, Peso Pluma is known for popularizing the bélico attitude. Though “Igual Que Un Ángel” has no hints of música mexicana, his fans came up with a name for his sound in this song. According to them, Peso Pluma falls within the “belicoquette” genre alongside Kali Uchis. Over on X, his fans have embraced the becoming “belicoquette,” or “tumbette,” from listening to the song. “My new obsession!!! Long live belicoquette,” one person wrote among the many memes.
Kali Uchis is very angelic in the song’s music video. She looks stunning in a pink bodysuit that accentuates her baby bump. Last week, she revealed her pregnancy with her partner Don Toliver. For his part, Peso Pluma performs the song with her in a flashy outfit that fits the video’s retro vibe very well.
Last Friday, Peso Pluma and Karol G appeared as special guests at Kali Uchis’ album release party in Los Angeles, CA. Karol G was featured on Kali’s explosive reggaeton track “Labios Mordidos.” In April, Peso Pluma will perform at the 2024 Coachella music festival.
