J Balvin fans will feel like they’re on cloud nine when they lace up the music star’s newest release.
The J Balvin x Air Jordan 2 sneakers, releasing worldwide on September 15, 2022, are a collaborative effort between Balvin and NBA legend Michael Jordan’s namesake brand. On Monday (August 1), Balvin revealed photos of the unique shoe and explained the inspiration behind its design and glow-in-the-dark capability.
“For those of us who love sneakers, it is brutal how dreams take more paths and different ways of connecting with the planet,” Balvin wrote. “In this complete collection, I only thought about what human beings live day by day, finding the light to have a better quality of life, and everything starts from a healthy mind. The Jordan 2 have lights because they represent that if there are sometimes dark paths, the light accompanies us to pass the test.”
J Balvin added that sneakerheads in his hometown of Medellín, Colombia, will get the shoe first, but other fans across the globe won’t be far behind.
The shoes themselves definitely make a statement. The colors are celestine blue and white and feature a light blue sky with a cloud pattern around the heel and on the collar padding. The words “Air Jordan” are on the shoe’s sole in a stylized font. The back of the heel carries Balvin’s well-known, yellow smiley face logo with lightning bolt eyes. The tongue on the shoe features Jordan’s basketball and wings logo.
