The Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) has reportedly taken action amidst alleged agent violation claims against Rimas Sports, the sports agency launched by Bad Bunny in 2023.

This update comes as outlets like The Athletic and ESPN broke the news that Rimas Sports was facing punishment from MLBPA on Friday (March 12). According to their insider sources,  the alleged misconduct claims against the agency included “offering large sums of money, cars and other incentives prohibited in MLBPA’s agent regulations to get players to switch agencies.” ESPN was also the first to report that William Arroyo, one of the agents with Rimas Sports, had his certification with MLBPA revoked that same day following a union investigation.

“At Rimas Sports, we uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity of our industry,” the sports agency said in a statement last week. “Out of respect for an ongoing process within the context of the MLBPA Agent Regulations, we will refrain from making any comments at this time. We remain committed to continue serving our clients with excellence.”

According to Newsweek, the MLBPA has now asked agents not to contact anyone on the Rimas Sports roster. The baseball association allegedly sent an email to agents Monday morning asking them not to engage with the Puerto Rico-based agency’s clients. Names on the “Do Not Contact” list include Cincinnati Reds’ Santiago Espinal, Los Angeles Dodgers prospects Joendry Vargas and Diego Cartaya, and the Baltimore Orioles’ Livan Soto. Rimas has not yet responded to these recent claims.

In April 2023, Bad Bunny launched Rimas Sports with Noah Assad and Jonathan Miranda, who are also executives at his record label, Rimas Entertainment. The sports agency represents Francisco Alvarez and Ronny Mauricio from the New York Mets, Yonathan Daza from the Colorado Rockies, Jordan Diaz from the Oakland Athletics, and Santiago Espinal from the Cincinnati Reds. The roster also includes the Baltimore Orioles’ Livan Soto and Wilmer Flores from the San Francisco Giants.

Last year, Assad was quoted as saying, “This new venture is an expansion of that mission as we aim to bring greater representation to the Latin community in the world of sports.” It’s important to note that his Rimas Entertainment label represents artists such as Arcángel, Eladio Carrión, and Bad Bunny himself.
