The relationship between former opponents Ted Cruz and President Donald Trump hasn’t always inspired warm and fuzzy feelings. Trump, as a matter of fact, has stated that Cruz’s father was a part of the Kennedy assassination and has said offensive things about his wife, Heidi. He’s also called Cruz “Lyin’ Ted.” And yet, as Cruz faces Beto O’Rourke in the senate race, the Canadian-born politician has called on his old foe for help. On Monday, Trump stumped for Cruz in Houston.

“Ted’s opponent in this race is a stone-cold phony named Robert Francis O’Rourke, sometimes referred to as ‘Beto,'” Trump said, according to NBC News. “He pretends to be a moderate, but he’s actually a radical, open borders left-winger.”
Trump also went on to praise Cruz, stating, “I will tell you what, nobody has helped me more with your tax cuts, with your regulations, with all of the things that we are doing, including military and our vets, than Senator Ted Cruz. Nobody… He’s not lying Ted anymore. He’s beautiful Ted.”
And with those simple sentences, the internet has struck comedy gold. People are using “beautiful Ted” to poke fun at Trump’s complete 180-degree turn and to remind us that there are actual beautiful Teds who aren’t trying to encroach on the rights of our most vulnerable.
