There’s one Latine artist that Beyoncé has loved listening to this year. In an interview published today (Sept. 10), the pop icon opened up about being a fan of That Mexican OT.

In an interview with GQ, Beyoncé named the artists that she has listened to in 2024. She mentioned R&B acts like Victoria Monét, Raye, Chloe x Halle, and rising pop stars like Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan. Beyoncé also talked about rappers like Doechii and GloRilla. The most unexpected mention in her list was another rapper named That Mexican OT.

“I just heard That Mexican OT, he’s from Houston… He goes hard!” Beyoncé said during the interview.

That Mexican OT is the stage name of Mexican-American rapper Virgil René Gazca. Much like Beyoncé, who is also from Houston, he always proudly represents his Texas roots. After releasing a few mixtapes, That Mexican OT broke through with his debut album Lonestar Luchador. The LP includes his hit “Johnny Dang,” which features Paul Wall and Drodi. After that collaboration charted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, That Mexican OT signed with Interscope Records.

Back in March, That Mexican OT released his second album Texas Technician under Interscope Records. The rising rapper scored further hits like “02.02.99,” which also appeared on the Hot 100 chart, and “Twisting Fingers” featuring Moneybagg Yo. That Mexican OT largely raps in English with a Chicano flow. Earlier this year, he was featured on the cover of XXL for the magazine’s Freshman Class 2024.

That Mexican OT is currently performing concerts across the U.S. His next show will take place at the Ogden Theatre in Denver, CO. Throughout the rest of the month, that Mexican OT will visit cities like Seattle, WA, Sacramento, CA, and San Francisco, CA. Next month, he will also put on concerts in San Diego, CA, Santa Ana, CA, and Las Vegas, NV.
