Today (Oct. 8), the nominations for the 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards were revealed. The most-nominated Latine artists this year include Anitta and Peso Pluma.
Thanks to their hit “Bellakeo,” Anitta and Peso Pluma are the few Latine artists to appear in the major categories. Both artists are nominated in the Best Collaboration category against hits by Charli xcx and Billie Eilish, Lisa and Rosalía, Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars, and Taylor Swift and Post Malone. Anitta is also nominated in the Biggest Fans category. Cuban-Mexican singer Camila Cabello is the sole Latina in the Best Pop category.
Anitta and Peso Pluma are also nominated in the Best Latin category. Their competition includes Bad Bunny, Karol G, Rauw Alejandro, and Shakira. The MTV EMAs are known for being more inclusive to Latine artists with its regional categories. The Best Latin American North Act is made up of Mexican artists. Pop star Danna, corridos tumbados pioneer Natanael Cano, and Gabito Ballesteros are up against the first reggaeton mexa stars in the category. El Malilla and Yeri Mua are now first-time MTV EMA nominees.
The Best Caribbean Act category is filled with artists from Puerto Rico. Young Miko, Myke Towers, Yovngchimi, Luar La L, and Eladio Carrión are nominated. Moreover, Colombia has taken over the Best Latin America Central Act category. The nominees there include Manuel Turizo, Sofia Castro, Blessd, Beéle, and Kapo. And it’s full Argentinean representation in the Best Latin America South Act category, with Emilia, Maria Becerra, Trueno, Luck Ra, and Dillom vying for an MTV Europe Music Award. The Best Brazilian Act category includes Pabllo Vittar, Luísa Sonza, Matuê, Jão, and Pedro Sampaio. Taylor Swift is the most-nominated artist this year with seven nominations.

The 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards will be held on Nov. 10 at Co-op Live in Manchester. Last year’s telecast was canceled due to the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict.
