Update Oct. 19: Due to the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict, the 2023 MTV Europe Music Awards have been canceled. “The MTV EMAs are an annual celebration of global music,” the organizers shared in a statement. “As we watch the devastating events in Israel and Gaza continue to unfold, this does not feel like a moment for a global celebration. With thousands of lives already lost, it is a moment of mourning.”

The awards show is set to resume in November 2024.

The nominations for the 2023 MTV Europe Music Awards were revealed today (Oct. 4). The most-nominated Latine artists this year include Ice Spice, Selena Gomez, Peso Pluma, Shakira, and Karol G.

Peso Pluma is proving that his success isn’t limited to only the U.S. and Mexico. Now, the Mexican superstar is getting recognized internationally. One of his two nominations includes the main category of Best New Artist. In that category, Peso Pluma faces Ice Spice, who received three nominations this year. She is also nominated for Best Collaboration for “Boy’s A Liar Pt. 2” with PinkPantheress and Best Push. Selena Gomez also has three nominations, including Best Song and Best Collaboration for the “Calm Down” remix with Nigerian artist Rema.

Colombian superstars Shakira and Karol G also received some main-category love. Thanks to the fiery “TQG,” they’re nominated for Best Collaboration. They also face each other and Peso Pluma in the Best Latin category. Their competition includes Bad Bunny, Anitta, and Rosalía. The category for Best Latin American North Act includes all Mexican artists, including Danna Paola, Kenia Os, Natanael Cano, Siddhartha, and Kevin Kaarl.

All Colombian artists are competing for Best Latin American Central Act. Medellín natives Feid, Blessd, Ryan Castro, and Sebastián Yatra are up against Montería’s Manuel Turizo. The Best Latin American South Act category features Argentine stars Bizarrap, Duki, Lali, and Nicki Nicole against rock en español legend Fito Páez. Artists with roots in Puerto Rico, including Mora, Myke Towers, Rauw Alejandro, Young Miko, and Eladio Carrión are competing for Best Caribbean Act. Moreover, Luisa Sonza, Anavitoria, Kevin O Chris, Manu Gavassi, and Matue are up for Best Brasilian Act.

Fans can vote for their favorite artists here. The MTV EMAs will air live from Paris across 150 countries on Nov. 5.
