One of the most beloved characters on ¿Quién es la Máscara? was unmasked last night (Dec. 14). The hippo in the tutu who sang hits by Jenni Rivera, Kali Uchis, Madonna, and more, was revealed to be rising Mexican star Yeri Mua.
¿Quién es la Máscara? is the Spanish-language version of the hit series The Mask Singer. For the sixth season, ex-RBD singer Anahí joined the investigators panel, which also includes Carlos Rivera, Martha Higareda, and Juanpa Zurita. One character that made a splash this past season was a hippo named Tutupótama. Last night, Tutupótama was voted out, landing in fifth place, so they were unmasked. Yeri Mua, who made the jump from influencer to leader of the reggaeton mexa scene, was revealed to be the voice behind the character. During her last hurrah, she performed “Envolver” by Anitta while perreando in the hippo suit.
As Tutupótama, Yeri had an impressive run on ¿Quién es la Máscara? The first song she covered was Kali Uchis’ Spanglish song “Moonlight.” After teaming up with Kenia Os earlier this year on “Mamita Rica,” she also covered her breakthrough hit “Malas Decisiones.” She truly hit her stride as Tutupótama when she sang Madonna’s classic “Material Girl” fully in English. That week, Anahí also dressed up as ‘80s Madonna on the investigators panel.
Yeri Mua is a big fan of Jenni Rivera. In the past, she has posted videos on TikTok of herself dressed as the late Diva de la Banda and selected her as one of her dream dinner party guests. On the Dec. 8 episode of ¿Quién es la Máscara?, the theme was Regional Mexican Night. A day before the 12th anniversary of Rivera’s passing, Yeri performed her timeless hit “Inolvidable” while in the Tutupótama outfit. She dedicated her performance to the “despechadas” and the “damn men that have broken their hearts.”

Cacahuate Enchilado, Freddie Verdury, and Huesito Peligroso are the characters still competing for the win. ¿Quién es la Máscara? airs Sunday nights on Univision. Yeri Mua was recently announced as the No. 1 artist globally on TikTok in 2024.
