WATCH: Belinda Responds to Bad Bunny Name-Dropping Her in New Song “La Cuadrada”

Belinda finally responds to Bad Bunny dropping her name in one of his songs. Last night (Jan. 18), the Spanish-Mexican star name-checked him in her music video for “La Cuadrada.” The cinematic video also features rising Mexican singer Tito Double P.
Bad Bunny is apparently a long-time fan of Belinda. He once revealed a photo from his childhood at Christmas time. Under the tree next to baby Benito was the soundtrack for the 2002 telenovela Cómplices Al Rescate, which starred Belinda. Bad Bunny then mentioned her twice on his 2023 album Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana. In the song “VOU 787,” he referenced her Cómplices characters Mariana and Silvana. Bad Bunny then named her directly in “Perro Negro” featuring Feid. “You make them crazy like Belinda,” he sang in Spanish.
Now, Belinda is using her new song to respond to Bad Bunny. As part of her “Beli-bélica” era, she joined forces with Peso Pluma’s cousin, Tito Double P, for “La Cuadrada.” In the fiery and flirty corrido, she calls Bad Bunny by his government name. Belinda specifically references his mention of her in “Perro Negro.” In Spanish, she sings, “I’m driving you crazy, as Benito would say.”
The music video for “La Cuadrada” is a short film. Belinda’s chic style and bob were inspired by Uma Thurman’s character Mia Wallace from Quentin Tarantino’s 1994 classic Pulp Fiction. She was also seemingly influenced by the action-packed film Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Belinda and Tito Double P play romantically involved assassins who try to kill each other in the extravagant Ex-Hacienda de Chaut in Puebla.

“La Cuadrada” will be a part of Belinda’s first album under Warner Music, which will be released in March. Other songs in her corridos series include “Cactus,” “300 Noches” with Natanael Cano, and “La Mala.” She returned to Latine pop music in “Jackpot” featuring fellow Mexican singer Kenia Os.
