Bad Bunny had Puerto Rican royalty crash one of his skits on Saturday Night Live. Legendary actor Benicio del Toro joked with Bad Bunny and Marcello Hernández about the development of the Spanish language on Saturday October 4th.
Back in August, Bad Bunny invited del Toro to his No Me Quiero ir de Aquí residency in Puerto Rico. The Oscar-winning star partied with Bad Bunny in La Casita. They had an impromptu reunion during tonight’s episode of SNL. Bad Bunny and Hernández went back in time to play Iberians that were in the process of creating the Spanish language. In a goal to make the language “harder to learn,” Bad Bunny set rules about gendering words in Spanish.
Towards the end of the sketch, del Toro appeared to offer his own advice about how to make Spanish more difficult to learn. Among his suggestions, he mentioned to separate the words in Spanish according to formal or informal usage. As an example, del Toro offered up “you,” which could be “tú” for the informal usage or “usted” for formal usage. He also brought about the idea of taking a nap, or siesta, which is popular in Spanish culture.
Earlier in the episode, Bad Bunny opened up about the backlash around headlining the Superbowl halftime show next year. He also collided with the real singing voices behind the hit Netflix movie KPop Demon Hunters in another sketch.
