Remember way back when in the year 2000 when Mala Rodriguez burst onto the scene with hard core hip hop and sharp social lyrics? Then not so long afterwards, the spitfire Spaniard came at us with an alternative beat in the company of the like of Julieta Venegas in her album Malamarismo in 2007.

Well, it's another day in Mala-land and if her new single "No pidas perdón" is any indication, she has left the ghettos of Sevilla and the hipster town of Madrid to hit the dance floor -- hard.

In her first single of the album titled Dirty Bailarina (out April 27), La Mala cuts her way through an electro-pop beat with her classic in-your-face hip hop bravado. The title of the album refers to an alter ego on which the 14 tracks in the album are based on. The album was produced by Atlanta-based producer Focus , who has worked with other acts like Beyoncé, Jennifer López and Christina Aguilera.

Listen to the song after the jump.

So, Google is out of China and according to reports from Business Week and CNN, Venezuela might be the next casualty of online censorship. While the biggest shock might be that Venezuelans actually have access to social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter, there is fear that President Hugo Chavez might be planning to pull the plug or drastically censor such sites.

According to Chavez himself on his weekly TV show Alo Presidente, he is calling for internet regulations, which among other cyber maladies, will tackle false news stories. Under current Venezuelan law, owners and contributors of media outlets can be jailed for publishing incorrect information.

The encroaching regulations will enforce accountability for these false news stories, which on Facebook adds up to just a bit over 100,000,000 million people worldwide!

Social sites pose a direct threat to Chavez's government because they are vital tools used by opponents. Unlike in the States where Facebook is the place to get the latest on who’s hatched what egg on who’s farm, Venezuelans organize protests and voice alternative political views on social sites.

Perhaps no one has friend-requested Chevaz and he is beginning to get a different picture of the here and now of his country? Anyone have a spare olive branch to push the mouse and add him as friend?

OJO, Mark Zuckerberg! If the disenfranchised.politically-savvy youth of Venezuela stage a coup d’état, you might be in for it!

In case you missed it in all the media sound bites, there's a new "richest person in the world" and he is MEXICAN! Move over Billy Gates and Mr. Buffet, Forbes just released their “World’s Billionaires 2010” list, naming Carlos Slim Helu the new champion of wealth.

The Mexican tycoon whose holding include American Movil (AMX) is worth $53.5 billion, can you even visualize it? While it’s still not as much as the American National debt, El Tio Carlos could buy the country and sell it to the Chinese at profit.

The big picture here is, if he could do it...then every Carlos, Maria and Anita could do it TOO. Before you start sending your wish list, give me a second to re-address my letter to Oprah, cuz now I got my Tio Carlos!

The ONN (The Onion’s version of CNN) reports a treaty signed by President Calderon to erect a wall on the border, not to keep the Mexicans out of the America’s kitchens but instead to keep American “Assholes” from border towns in Mexico. Border towns like Tijuana and Ciudad Juarez have long allowed these “assholes” also known as Spring Breakers or “Gringo day tourists” to pillage their town a la Cortez style.

This idea of a response and retaliation to the current dividing wall is almost as exhilarating as the scene in the 2004 movie the Day After Tomorrow, when the United States froze over and screwed Americans scurried to the Mexican border, the irony is as delectable as the clip!

After you get over the giggles, this fake video by the always hilarious The Onion is bringing up the issue of Latin American countries allowing tourism to shape their idiosyncrasies. People should not aspire to be postcards to form a national identity. This is an issue ingrained in Latin ideology in response to the dollar and more and more to the Euro. Even Frida Kahlo had to learn the selling power of the occasional exotic flowers, monkey and huipil.

Watch it after the jump.

New mixtape from DJ Juan Data!

From Argentina via the Bay Area with love comes Chorisapiens, not a choripan sandwich, but a popin' new mixtape from DJ Juan Data. This is one of those mixtapes you press play to turn a party for one...into a standing room-only, crazy party.

Cumbia is pulled, stretched and fashioned to funk, trip-hop, house, tango, mambo and hip-hop! Yup, it’s all here and it sounds padrisimo! There are some great artists featured in the mix that you would never invite to the same asado but seem right at home here.

Black Mandingo offers a "Heavy Bass vs M.I.A." track that gives way to a jazzy one-liner by La Mala Rodriguez who later rocks it out in "Tambalea." Carlos Gardel’s iconic “Mi Buenos Aires Querido” reaches high level beats that take you into some Calle 8, Public Enemy, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs even some Willie Colon, and many many more!

If you follow too closely to this guest list, you might get whiplashed. So just buckle your velcro straps and let it take you from 0 to 100 mph and into a chorisapiens dancing machine!

Download it after the jump.
