The crossover event of the year happened over the weekend: RBarbieD. Mexican pop star Christian Chávez celebrated his 40th birthday in a Barbie-themed party with his RBD bandmates.

On Saturday night (August 5), Chávez reunited with fellow RBD stars Anahí, Dulce María, Maite Perroni, and Christopher von Uckermann in Los Angeles. Ahead of their upcoming reunion tour later this month, they came together to celebrate Chávez’s 40th birthday.

Most of the band played with the pink aesthetic of Chávez’s Barbie party theme. The theme is especially on point since the fashion doll has become a craze thanks to the Barbie movie, which stars Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, and America Ferrera.

Chávez embraced his inner Ken by going shirtless with a pink jacket and hot pants. And he even had a life-size Barbie box that the RBD members posed in to live out their Barbie fantasies.

Anahí appeared to be a Mexican Barbie with her vaquera outfit, which included a pink cowboy hat. Perroni, who became a mother in May, looked chic in her pink overcoat. Just like in the Rebelde telenovela days, Dulce María was the rebel of the group when she opted to dress in black. However, she stayed in theme with her pink heels. And Von Uckermann was also a bit of a Ken with slightly pink pants.

On their Instagram grids, Chávez, Perroni, and Dulce María posted cute photos from the birthday party. In those, Dulce María and Perroni also shared heartfelt messages to Chávez for his birthday in their posts.

“Happy life @christianchavezreal everyday you paint pink and all the colors that light up your soul and your heart!!! May you always be happy and never forget how much I love you,” Perroni wrote in Spanish.

“Happy birthday @christianchavezreal love to see you happy and surrounded by the people you love!! […] How beautiful it is to be able to share these moments together! I love you so much!” Dulce María wrote.

RBD’s Soy Rebelde Tour kicks off on August 25 at the Sun Bowl Stadium in El Paso, TX. The band selected that venue to launch the tour because it sits near the U.S. and Mexico border, which reflects two of their biggest markets.
