Jackie Cruz’s Selena fandom is well documented – she even released a cover of “Como la Flor” last year. But her true appreciation for La Reina was on full display yesterday at the unveiling of the new Selena Quintanilla wax figure at Madame Tussaud’s Hollywood. Cruz not only showed up in a blue homage to the iconic purple jumpsuit Selena wore at her Astrodome performance, she also broke down in tears after meeting and speaking with Selena’s mother, Marcella Samora Quintanilla.
This isn’t the first time the younger generation of Latina performers has gotten choked up meeting Selena’s family. Last year Adrienne Bailon fought back tears speaking with Suzette Quintanilla on The Real, while explaining that Selena inspired her to become a singer. “This means so much having you here,” she told Suzette. “You and your family have changed my life.”
