Is Hailey Bieber shading Selena Gomez with a Beyoncé song? That’s what Gomez’s fans think after a post that Bieber made in her Instagram stories.
Hailey Bieber is married to Gomez’s ex Justin Bieber. There was speculation of a feud between the two women after it was rumored that Hailey was seeing Justin while he was dating Gomez. In an interview with Call Her Daddy in 2022, Hailey set the record straight about her relationship timeline with Justin. “I can say, period, point blank, I was never with him when he was in a relationship with anybody – that’s the end of it,” she said.
Last year, Gomez later told her fans to stop cyberbullying Bieber over the non-existent feud. They were even photographed hanging out together at the Academy Museum Gala.
Now Gomez’s fans are claiming that Bieber is shading the “Love On” singer in her Instagram stories. Today (March 29) Beyoncé released her Cowboy Carter album. The LP includes a cover of Dolly Parton’s classic “Jolene.” Instead of pleading with the titular Jolene to not steal her man, Beyoncé changed the lyrics to threaten her if she even tries it. Bieber posted the song with the caption “whew 😤”
On X (formerly known as Twitter), one fan wrote, “‘hailey always been the victim” and there she goes around always shading selena first but god forbid if selena defends herself…” Another fan added, “hailey bieber you are Jolene stop trippin.” It only continued to spiral from there.
There are also people online who believe that Bieber is simply enjoying Beyoncé’s song. One person wrote on X, “am i missing something cus wtf does this have to do with selena?????? like y’all swear everything Hailey does is about her.” Another person added, “when will the time come for us to FINALLY say that the Selena-Hailey drama is so last season????!!!! LIKE STAWPPP ITS BEEN YEARS.”
Beyoncé got some input from Latine creatives on her Cowboy Carter album. Mexican-American musician Jean Dawson with her on the LP and she also sampled a Brazilian funk song titled “Aquecimento – Vem Vem Vai Vai” by DJ Dedé Mandrake.
