Following the Jet Set nightclub tragedy, Tokischa is giving back to those affected. This afternoon (April 11), the Dominican superstar announced that she is teaming up with a local organization to raise money for the victims and their families.

On the early morning of April 8, the roof of the Jet Set nightclub in Santo Domingo collapsed.. The venue was packed with people that were watching a concert put on by merengue icon Rubby Pérez. According to CNN, at least 225 people have died and 189 were injured. Among those who were killed in the collapse are Pérez, former MLB star Octavio Dotel, and baseball player Tony Blanco, who reportedly saved the life of fellow player Esteban Germán.

That same day, Tokischa spoke out about the incident on her X account.

“How sad we Dominicans feel, there are no words that can describe or soften the pain of so many families who are victims of this tragedy in Jetset,” she wrote. “My heart and mind are with you and now is the time for action. What happened today is NOT an accident. It is the result of a chain of negligence. This is what happens when you allow things to operate in exchange for bribes or connections, and in the end, what you’re selling is the safety of citizens. We need to demand that they stop looking the other way. And that business owners who open doors without meeting minimum standards also face consequences.”

Tokischa is taking action through her charity Sol Foundation. Through her organization, she has joined forces with Jompéame Foundation to open a fund that will go directly to those affected by the Jet Set nightclub tragedy. Tokischa is also donating to the fund.

“I invite you to show solidarity and collaborate with this cause,” she said in the video message on her official account on X and Instagram. “There are many families who have lost their home and they need our support.”
