Euphoria’s second season might be done and gone, but there’s still much we’re learning about the production. The show paused in 2020 due to the pandemic, but that was just one of the challenges the cast faced when bringing their characters to life during that time. The cast members are opening up about the constantly-changing scripts, especially Alexa Demie, who plays Maddy Perez.

As the crew waited to see what the future held for production during the pandemic, cast members of Euphoria said that they watched their script and scenes change frequently.

It seems the time off gave the crew working on Euphoria plenty of time to change things around, so they decided to change the entire Season 2. According to Demie, everything changed during that pause in production.

“Well, the whole of season 2!” Alexa Demie told Variety when asking about what changed in Season 2’s script. “We went to a table read, and it was an entirely different thing. Then the pandemic happened, we had a break, came back, and it was a whole new season 2.”

She then continued to say she doesn’t think Nate and Cassie were together in the original draft of Season 2.

Demie wasn’t the only actress who saw a significant change in their role in Season 2. Unconfirmed rumors abound about a heated altercation between Barbie Ferreira and Sam Levinson, the creator of Euphoria.

Ferreira, who plays Kat Hernandez, is noticeably less active in Season 2, and rumors of retaliation at the hands of Levinson continue to surround the show. According to the rumors, Ferreira allegedly didn’t want to portray Kat Hernandez as having an eating disorder because of her body positivity activism.

Euphoria is currently streaming on HBO Max, and one thing is for sure, we are so ready for Season 3 — whenever that comes.
