These Iconic Latinas Returned for ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Season 17 Villains Roast

RuPaul's drag race season 17 cast

World of Wonder

Latina powerhouses Kandy Muse and Mistress Isabelle Brooks returned for last night’s (March 7) episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race. In addition to their comeback for the hilarious Villains Roast, the Latina queens in the competition were at the center of the drama.

Season 17 of RuPaul’s Drag Race is currently airing on MTV. For episode 10, the eight remaining drag queens were tasked with roasting their competitors, the judges, and the special guests for the first ever Villains Roast.

As the winner of last week’s Maxi Challenge, Jewels Sparkles, who is of Cuban and Puerto Rican descent, was in-charge of the running order for the roast. Throughout the season, she has often called Mexican-American queen Arrietty her “Latina sister.” Arrietty felt slighted when she was put before Jewels Sparkles’ set. She thought Jewels Sparkles was expecting her to flop the challenge and put her set after Arrietty’s to look better in comparison.

Over on the main stage, Kandy Muse, who was a runner-up on season 13 and the eighth season of All Stars, and season 15’s Mistress Isabelle Brooks returned for the Villains Roast. They were joined by last season’s shady drag queen Plane Jane. The three villains took the contestants’ jokes in stride, but they also clapped back when the comedy wasn’t landing.

At the end of the challenge, Kandy Muse, Mistress Isabelle Brooks, and Plane Jane got a chance to address the queens. Kandy Muse called them all kinds of expletives while saying that Arrietty, who bombed the roast, was destined to go home next. Mistress Isabelle Brooks then shaded Luxx Noir London and Irene “The Alien” Dubois from her season by taking swipes at their drag children Lana Ja’Rae and Arrietty.

If there’s ever another Villains Roast in the future, Arrietty could be invited because she sabotaged Jewels Sparkles by stealing two of her jokes. With Jewels Sparkles being blindsided by Arrietty, both of the queens landed in bottom. The two frenemies battled for their place in the competition in fierce lip-sync to Beyoncé’s “Ya Ya.” Arrietty became the seventh queen to sashay away. Following the previous elimination of Lucky Starzzz, Jewels Sparkles is now the last Latina in the running for the title of “America’s Next Drag Superstar.”

RuPaul’s Drag Race airs new episodes Friday nights at 8pm EST on MTV.
