Nobody Wants This has become one of the biggest new hits on Netflix, with the show about the romance between an agnostic sex podcaster and a newly single rabbi making it into the Netflix Global Top 10 and getting an early Season 2 renewal. But did you know that Emmy-winning Dominican director Oz Rodriguez directed two episodes of the show’s first season?
Rodriguez, who previously directed Vampires vs. the Bronx as well as episodes of A.P Bio, Neon, Bupkis, Saturday Night Live and Kevin Can F**k Himself, among others, directed episode 5 of the show’s first season, titled “My Friend Joanne” and Episode 7 of the show’s first season, “WAGS.”
The director previously won a Primetime Emmy Award in the Outstanding Short Form Nonfiction or Reality Series category for his work in Creating Saturday Night Live. He was nominated for the award two other times for the show. He has also been nominated to the ALMA Awards in the Outstanding Director of a Television Series category for his work in Funny or Die Presents…
It is not yet known if Rodriguez will return to direct in the second season of the show, though writing for it is already underway. “We’ve been in the writers’ room for about three weeks now,” the show’s creator Erin Foster recently said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

True representation is seeing our communities not just in front of the camera, but behind the cameras as well, creating the stories we consume. Oz Rodriguez is doing just that.
Nobody Wants This season 1 is available on Netflix.
