It was going to take more than a sprained ankle to keep Xochitl Gomez off the dance floor Tuesday night (November 8) for the seventh episode of Dancing with the Stars.

The day before her performance with dance partner Val Chmerkovskiy, Gomez posted a video on TikTok showing her falling awkwardly on the dance floor during rehearsals. She also posted a photo of her ankle wrapped with blue gauze.

This comes after she was injured last week when she jumped on a platform. Also, a warning before you watch the video below. An ankle should not bend like that.

“This shiiii is BANANAS!” Gomez wrote. “I’m good tho! A lil sprain but WE WORKIN!” In the comments section, Gomez added: “I’m good!! I will be there tomorrow and we ballin!”

Gomez ended up doing great during “Week 7: Music Video Night.” She and Chmerkovskiy did a jazz dance to the song “Hollaback Girl” by Gwen Stefani. The duo took the stage playing the roles of two high school students.

Giving her best impression of Stefani, Gomez was dressed in white pants, a white graphic midriff, a black beanie, a black and white handkerchief, a pair of Converse, and a blonde wig.

Gomez started the dance with some hip-hop choreography alongside two other dancers dressed like high school cheerleaders. Chmerkovskiy then stepped in and the two started with a series of twists and turns before Gomez did a quick costume change into a high school band uniform.

The dance earned Gomez and Chmerkovskiy two 9s and two 8s for a total score of 34, which was the third-highest score of the evening. Guest judge Paula Abdul told Gomez that she “captured all Gwen’s mannerisms in such a delicious way.”

Gomez and Chmerkovskiy now head to Week 8 where only seven teams are left to compete. Sadly, another dance couple was eliminated Tuesday night. This time, it was Lele Pons and Brandon Armstrong.
