Bad Bunny is set to return to the SNL stage on October 21, 2023. This time not just as the musical guest, but as the host as well. Which begs the question, will we get a skit or two in Spanish?

The Puerto Rican singer isn’t a stranger to SNL, having appeared as a guest on two separate occasions. In his first appearance in April 2020, he made a cameo during a Saturday Night Live at Home episode.

In his second appearance on the hit show, he joined host Regé-Jean Page as the musical guest on the February 2021 episode. Rosalía joined him to perform their recent collaboration “La Noche De Anoche.” And Bad Bunny even appeared in two separate musical-themed sketches, “Loco” and “Sea Shanty.”

His turn as a host means that there will be less singing and the possibility of some SNL skits in Spanish. That’s given even more credence because Telemundo PR announced that they will be airing Bad Bunny’s hosting night over on the channel. That means if you don’t have NBC or Peacock in Puerto Rico, you won’t have to miss out on this historic hosting gig.

Previously Bad Bunny gave his first all-English interview in February 2023. Back in 2021, he went viral for bluntly telling an English-speaking interviewer that he didn’t understand what he was saying. And just this September 2023 he commented on his Grammy’s performance where instead of translating his lyrics, the network closed captioning read “Speaking non-English” and “Singing in non-English.” He responded with, “So fucked up” and “Why don’t they have someone? Knowing that I was going to be there.…”

And now with Bad Bunny about to hit the SNL stage after releasing his new album Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va A Pasar Mañana and this announcement from Telemundo PR, it seems more likely that we will get some skits in Spanish. There will absolutely be skits in English because he’s been learning. He had to if he was going to previously take on the role of Marvel’s El Muerto.

But if there’s anything we’ve learned from this superstar, it’s that he’s always unapologetically himself. And if that means doing SNL skits in Spanish then so be it.

Bad Bunny regresa a SNL y lo podrás ver este sábado, por Telemundo 🐰🇵🇷
