A Quick Breakdown of Christian Nodal & Belinda’s Relationship

It has been quite a past few months for singer Christian Nodal and his ex-fiancée, singer and songwriter Belinda. The former couple’s every move has been documented and scrutinized since they called off their engagement two weeks ago. Their relationship problems, however, seem to go back farther than just a couple of weeks.

If you haven’t had time to keep up with the Nodal-Belinda (aka Nodeli) drama, here’s a quick review of their relationship – broken down into five easy-to-follow stages. Sooner or later, both musicians will start writing tracks based on all the heartbreak they’re currently experiencing, so at least their most devoted fans can look forward to that.

The Courtship

Nodal and Belinda started dating in mid-2020. According to People en Español, who named them Couple of the Year, the pair met at the Premios de La Radio awards show in Dallas in late 2019.  They also shared the stage on the set of TV Azteca’s La Voz Mexico. During one episode of the reality talent show, Nodal and Belinda sang “De los besos que te di,” and it was obvious the chemistry was there from the start. According to Billboard, they made their relationship Instagram official when they shared a video kissing on a boat. “The unexpected doesn’t need an explanation,” Nodal commented at the time.

The Engagement

The couple got engaged in May 2021. They announced the big news on social media. It’s been reported that Nodal gave Belinda an engagement ring estimated to be $3 million. “Ladies and gentlemen … Belinda Peregrin Schull just made me the luckiest man in the world,” he commented at the time. Belinda added, “A picture says a thousand words… The happiest woman in the world.”

The Beginning of the End

Only a few months after their engagement, circa August 2021, Belinda had the rumor mill spinning out of control when she posted a photo of herself on her Instagram story section not wearing her ring. Around the same time, outlets started reporting that Nodal deleted most of Belinda’s photos from his Instagram account. These were definitely not signs that everything was OK in Nodeli world. They did, however, show up to a Halloween party together last year as Frankenstein’s monster and the Bride of Frankenstein, so, there was hope, maybe?

The Breakup

On February 12, 2022, Nodal posted a statement on social media telling fans that he and Belinda had officially ended their relationship. “I want to share that we’ve decided to end our engagement and our relationship, taking the best of the other,” Nodal wrote. “We’re very grateful to you to have accompanied us during this time.” Days later, Belinda made her own statement about the breakup and thanked her fans for their “unconditional love and support.” She said, “I always try to take care of my heart, but it inevitably hurts a lot.”

The Aftermath

A lot has happened in the two weeks since Nodal and Belinda called it quits. Nodal’s mother followed in her son’s footsteps and purged all the photos of Belinda from her Instagram. Rumors are that mom didn’t like the couple’s nine-year age difference. Nodal has also taken some time to cover up some of the Belinda tattoos he’s gotten over the last year. We’re not sure how many tattoos he has left to remove, but the internet already gave him plenty of advice on the best ways to do it. Until then, goodbye for now, Nodeli.
