Despite Bad Bunny saying he would take a break, he’s closing out the year with a new song. The Puerto Rican superstar parties with Ñengo Flow in their music video for “Gato De Noche,” released today (Dec. 22).

Earlier this month, Bad Bunny told Billboard in an interview that he would be taking a break following the record-breaking success of his Un Verano Sin Ti album and top-grossing tours. He added that he would still spend time in the recording studio to make new music.

“I’m taking a break. 2023 is for me, for my physical health, my emotional health to breathe, enjoy my achievements,” he said. “We’re going to celebrate. Let’s go here, let’s go there, let’s go on the boat. I have a couple of sporadic commitments, and I’ll go to the studio, but there’s no pressure. Remember yourself, cabrón. You’ve worked your ass off.”

On Tuesday night, Bad Bunny surprised fans when he previewed a new song on TikTok. “To close out the year!” he yelled over the sound of the sound playing. Earlier that day, Bad Bunny also posted photos of himself wearing Ñengo Flow’s iced-out necklace. That led fans to believe the fellow Puerto Rican rapper would be a part of the song. They were also excited at the prospect of new music from Benito.

“Bad Bunny really had me thinking he was gonna take a break just to turn around and preview the best song ever??? 2023 theme song activated,” one fan wrote on Twitter. “Bad Bunny saying he taking a break from music and then drops a preview of his new song.. all (Pisces) men do is lie, but it sounds fire lmao,” another fan added.

With “Gato De Noche,” Bad Bunny came through with a new year anthem. In the devilish club banger, he sings about attracting a woman who wants a gato de noche, or an after-hours lover like him. “I’m going to hell if I stay behind that culote / I’m on my way,” he sings in Spanish. Like Chencho Corleone in “Me Porto Bonito,” Ñengo Flow gives this collaboration a classic perreo feel with his playful verses. The music video opens with Ñengo Flow as Santa Claus before he makes it rain money in the strip club alongside Bad Bunny.
