Bad Bunny and Residente might be música urbana’s unlikeliest pair of friends, but their friendship only continues to grow. After spending Thanksgiving together in 2018, the two rappers celebrated New Year’s Eve with a pool party in Puerto Rico. According to El Nuevo Día, guests included a ton of Boricua musicians, like cuatro player Christian Nieves, drummer Daniel Diaz Rivera, and even Residente’s sister and former Calle 13 vocalist Ileana Cabra.

“Happy 2019 this year we all are gonna kill it,” Residente wrote on Instagram, posting a celebratory video from the pool party, cannonballs and all.

This isn’t the first time that Bad Bunny and Residente have kicked it; in addition to spending Thanksgiving together, back in January 2018, El Conejo Malo met up with the former Calle 13 frontman and convinced him to collaborate with him on a trap song, since Rene has voiced his skepticism of the genre in the past. At that time, Residente said he gave the younger rapper some advice about maintaining artistic integrity in the music business.

Either way, it seems the two rappers’ friendship continues to evolve. Check out videos and photos from the celebration below.
