While you’re still decompressing after Christmas, we’re still trying to figure out what people loved most this holiday. And it looks like one of those things might be… Daddy Yankee. This year, the 42-year-old reggaetonero even seems to have won sala season with his music video for “Que Tire Pa Lante,” which officially beat out the views for Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You (Make My Wish Come True Edition)” on Christmas Eve.

Granted, Mariah Carey’s latest video for her legendary Christmas song was a re-release, meaning that fewer were likely inclined to check it out. For El Jefe, though, Latinxs aren’t exclusive in their Nochebuena listening habits — so it’s no surprise that his recent single got crazy love (and on the dancefloor, no less). We’re so sure of it, that it’s exactly why we included the track on our Navidad playlists earlier this week. Still, who knew Daddy Yankee’s “Que Tire Pa Lante” would clock in at 7.7 million views on Youtube on Christmas Eve alone — whereas Mariah Carey’s track came in at seven million views for the night.

If anyone had a sense of it, it would be Daddy Yankee himself. After all, his single has been doing wonders for him. He recently celebrated after it was named the most listened to track in the United States in 2019. And besides his singles that keep on giving, he rounded off his 2019 with a string of final performances at “El Choli,” Puerto Rico’s José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum — where he became the artist with the most sold-out shows in the venue’s history. No biggie.

Chances are, right now El Cangri is basking in the glow of these achievements and more. After all, his entire year was filled with new records to smash. And if you know Daddy Yankee, you know he already did.
