Mexican artists will take over the 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards. Today (Oct. 30), Peso Pluma was announced as one of the performers. The Warning will also hit the stage at the award show next month.
Earlier this month, the nominations for the 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards were revealed. Peso Pluma received two nominations this year, up for Best Collaboration for “Bellakeo” with Anitta and Best Latin. His competition in the latter category includes Anitta, Bad Bunny, Karol G, Rauw Alejandro, and Shakira. Though last year’s ceremony was canceled due to the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict, Peso Pluma won his first MTV EMA for Best New Act. Next month, he will perform at this year’s ceremony in the U.K.
Another Mexican act set to perform at the EMAs is The Warning. The rock group is nominated for Best Push Act. The Warning’s competition in that category includes Chappell Roan, Shaboozey, Victoria Monét, Ayra Starr, and LE SSERAFIM. The trio put out their fourth album Keep Me Fed in June. “Hopefully, we can open more doors for people to explore that passion because music is for everyone,” The Warning’s Paulina Villarreal told Remezcla this summer about representing Latinas and Mexico in the rock scene.
The MTV EMAs are known for highlighting Latine music per region with the categories: Best Latin American North Act, Best Latin America Central Act, Best Latin America South Act, Best Caribbean Act, and Best Brazilian Act. Now, they’re also one of the first major awards to embrace the emerging reggaeton mexa scene with El Malilla and Yeri Mua’s nominations for Best Latin American North Act.

The 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards will be held on Nov. 10 at Co-op Live in Manchester. Other artists confirmed to perform include Shawn Mendes, LE SSERAFIM, Raye, Teddy Swims, Benson Boone, and Tyla.
