The Love is Blind phenomenon has officially touched down in Mexico. For the Mexican spin-off of the Netflix series, Joss Favela was tapped to sing the theme song.

Love is Blind is a dating show that premiered on Netflix in 2020. The premise of the series is that the contestants looking for love don’t see each other until after making the commitment to get married. So far, there have been spin-offs in Brazil, Japan, Sweden, and now Mexico, in addition to the original U.S. edition.

The first four episodes of Love is Blind: Mexico started streaming on Netflix today (Aug. 1). The hosts are Mexican power couple Omar and Lucy Chaparro. The voice behind the spin-off’s theme song might sound familiar because it belongs to Mexican singer-songwriter Joss Favela. He wrote and recorded the soulful ballad “Cosas Mágicas,” which blends música mexicana with country, for the show.

“As someone who doesn’t record many love songs, I focused on the beautiful things in life and on creating a song that not only comes from me, but people can dedicate to their loved ones,” Favela shared in a statement. “It was a great experience.”

Throughout his career, Favela has triumphed as both an artist and songwriter. He has co-penned hits like “La Mejor Versión De Mí” by Natti Natasha and Romeo Santos, “Poquito a Poco” by Christian Nodal, and “El Beneficio De La Duda” by Grupo Firme. Favela’s own hits include “Pienso En Ti” featuring Becky G, “Me Hubieras Dicho,” and “Cuando Fuimos Nada.”

Back in May, Favela released his EP Mis Compas, Vol. 1. He collaborated with artists like Gera MX on “Cuando Llegue El Día,” Luis R Conriquez on “Con Todo Respetillo,” and Yuridia on “Pensando Positivo.” Los Plebes del Rancho de Ariel Camacho, Banda MS, and Codiciado also feature on the EP. Last month, Favela opened for Los Tucanes de Tijuana’s concert at the Orange County Fair in Costa Mesa, CA.
