The Met Gala is the biggest night in fashion as celebrities push the boundaries with avant-garde threads attached to the year’s theme. This year, the fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, gave everyone the assignment to come dressed to the theme of “Gilded Glamour” and people came prepared. The theme conjures up images of the 1920s as the world rushed towards a global economic depression that left millions of Americans suddenly out of work and struggling to survive.

The star-studded guest list was filled with people who interpreted the theme in various ways. Some people went straight to dripping in gold to show the literal physical interpretation of what gilded is, gold plated. Others went the more period costume route taking outfits you would have seen during the Gilded Age and turning them into modern works of art.

Latine celebrities showed up to the 2022 Met Gala and they definitely understood the assignment. And in case you missed the glitz and glamour of last night, we’ve got you covered. Here are 7 Latine celebs who clearly understood the “Gilded Glamour” assignment as they made their way down the red carpet.

1

Anitta

Anitta knows how to turn a look and her Met Gala gown was no exception to her fashion legacy. The singer wore a stunning purple, pearl embellished Moschino gown that cut an exquisitely modernized Gilded Age silhouette. Her interpretation of the Met Gala 2022 theme will give you those aristocratic 1920s vibes. It is clear that the singer was going for the real money maker style of the time while shying away from the flapper fashions some might have expected.

2

Bad Bunny

We all know that Bad Bunny will always show up in his fashion best. The singer never disappoints when it comes to the wearable art that he is famously known to deliver. His Met Gala look is no different. Another outfit inspired by the styles of the time, Bad Bunny made his Met Gala debut in a floor-length, cream-colored Burberry boilersuit dress. The outfit is paired perfectly with his beaded updo because Bad Bunny just knows how to do it.

3

Ariana DeBose

It’s clear that the stars loved some Moschino last night. The star of Stephen Speilberg’s remake of West Side Story was dripping with gold in her black and gold form-fitting gown. It is truly a feast for the eyes when you look at DeBose shimmering in a black sequined dress with gold embellishments that just scream “Gilded Glamour.” The matching gloves just serve to elevate the elegance of the entire look. We love to see it.

4

Mj Rodriguez

Pose star Mj Rodriguez returned to the Met Gala this year with a glimmering Moschino dress. The hombre of silver to gold draws the eye and takes it on a journey as you explore the large sequins. The outfit is leaning heavily on the gold-plated definition of gilded and we are not mad about it. The hood gives Rodriguez the kind of silhouette that we see coming in and out of style throughout history.

5

Camila Mendes

Mendes found a way to bring both ideas of what gilded means and turned them into one shaking and shimmering ensemble. The Riverdale actress channeled both gold-plated and the Gilded Age with her fringe. The nod to the iconic flapper style is a flirty take on an already flirty and fun style. The delicate sheer gloves are a fun accent to the Alexandre Mattiusi dress. It is clear that Mendes wanted to show her full understanding of the assignment and it led to her delivering on the red carpet.

6

Oscar Isaac

The Moon Knight actor pushed the idea of male fashion at the Met Gala with a long skirt to match his suit top. Isaac is no stranger to wearing skirts on red carpets and he is always looking for skirts that match his masculine style perfectly. The Thom Brown formal skirt is a wonderful reimagination of the large looming robber barons of the past. We love a versatile king and Isaac has spent the year showing that his fashion sense is something that we can all appreciate.

7

Cardi B

Cardi B was literally dripping in chains, coins, pendants, and just about anything gold as she strutted her stuff down the Met Gala’s red carpet. Her dazzling Versace dress is something we have come to expect from Cardi, who has been a force on Met Gala red carpets. While this look is a little toned down from previous looks, it is still very much the assignment. It is also very much something the “Bodak Yellow” rapper would be able to pull off effortlessly.
