Shakira’s sons are proudly following in their mother’s footsteps. As of yesterday (Oct. 5), Sasha and Milan have become multi-platinum recording artists, just like the Colombian pop icon.

Shakira closed out her epic arc of songs about her breakup with Gerard Piqué with the Karol G collaboration “TQG.” With her follow-up single, “Acróstico,” she moved on and focused on what matters to her most: her love for her sons. The heartfelt ballad is the most personal in Shakira’s vast discography because Sasha and Milan joined her in the music video. Sasha and Milan sang the song with their mother at her piano. It also marked their last time at their home in Barcelona before Shakira relocated the family to Miami.

After speaking at Billboard Latin Music Week event, Shakira was presented with platinum plaques for her recent hits. The RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) certified “Acróstico” four times platinum in the U.S. for exceeding 240,000 in sales and streams. The plaque includes the names of Shakira, Sasha, and Milan. Shakira’s young sons can now add multi-platinum recording artists to their life achievements.

Whether or not Sasha and Milan decide to become singers like Shakira, they have already shown that they inherited their mother’s sharp instincts in the music industry. Sasha created the artwork for Shakira’s “Monotonía” single on his iPad. Milan acted as an A&R of sorts when he encouraged his mom to work with Argentine producer Bizarrap. That move resulted in the collaboration “BZRP Music Sessions, Vol. 53,” one of the biggest global hits of the year.

More than 30 years into her career, Shakira keeps the hits coming. Though it was released a few weeks ago, Shakira’s corrido “El Jefe” with Fuerza Regida was certified platinum. Her sultry song “Copa Vacía” with Colombian heartthrob Manuel Turizo was certified two times platinum.
