J Balvin has reunited with one of his longtime collaborators. Last night (Aug. 8), the Colombian superstar released the music video for “Doblexxó” featuring Feid. J Balvin’s new album Rayo also includes collaborations with Carín León, Chencho Corleone, Zion, and more.

Rayo marks J Balvin’s first album in three years following 2021’s Jose. He took time off to care for his son Río, who was also born that year, with his partner Valentina Ferrer. J Balvin returned to the stage in April at Coachella, where Will Smith emerged as one of his special guests. Rayo is named after J Balvin’s first car in Medellín, Colombia, when he was first getting his music career off the ground.

An artist who has been a part of J Balvin’s career since the beginning is Feid. Before becoming a big-name star himself, Feid was a co-writer on J Balvin’s 2016 album Energia. He helped pen the hit “Ginza,” which broke J Balvin and the reggaeton scene from Medellín on a global level. Later that year, J Balvin featured on “Que Raro,” one of Feid’s first singles. Following a few more collaborations, including the “Porfa” remix, they’ve linked up again for “Doblexxó.”

With J Balvin, Feid, and Sky Rompiendo involved, “Doblexxó” recaptures the magic of the team behind “Ginza.” There’s a 2000s vibe to the electronic reggaeton banger with riffs reminiscent of Lil’ Kim’s “How Many Licks” with Sisqo. J Balvin and Feid trade verses about encouraging a woman to forget her ex by living her best life. The music video features the two performing the song together in a garage-like club. With Feid in the mix, J Balvin gets his groove back in the current reggaeton scene.

A surprise on J Balvin’s Rayo album is “Stoker” featuring Carín León. The música mexicana star embraces afrobeats influences for the first time with J Balvin. Reggaeton OGs Zion and Chencho Corleone also feature on “Lobo” and “Polvo De Tu Vida,” respectively. Ryan Castro, Blessd, Dei V, Bad Gyal, Saiko, Omar Courtz, Yovngchimi, and Quevedo appear on the LP as well.
